Artists on Beach
Many artists have been attracted to the beaches of Provincetown by the incredible light and beautiful surroundings. In 1916 a Boston Globe headline read "Biggest Art Colony in the World at Provincetown." These artists were gathered on Herring Cove Beach. They were painting a man’s portrait, whilst using umbrellas to shade their paints from the hot sun.
